Longserving and Hardworking Umpire passes away

MCUA have been informed of the death of our former President and appointments secretary, Dave Jones.

Dave was a founder member of MCUA and a driving force behind the creation and introduction of a panel of independent umpires to the L&DCC.

Dave, who was a long serving club umpire for Liverpool CC, was a stalwart of MCUA for over 25 years and while the title legend is used too often, it is without doubt that Dave was a legend of umpiring in the L&DCC.

Dave will be fondly remembered by his former colleagues and MCUA extends our deepest sympathy to all of Dave's family and friends at this very sad time.

Eddie Shiff, League Chair, paid tribiute on behaldf of the Management Committee. " A sad day for the MCUA and a sad day for the Liverpool Competition" he said, Dave has been at the forefront of everything to do wirth umpiring in our League for many years. He has trained and prepared many of the umpires standing in matches today. He will be missed. Condolences to his familiy. "
