GERRY BYROM RIP

Tribute and Funeral Details

Gerry's Funeral takes place on Friday 2 August at Southport Crematorium PR8 5JQ. 1pm. Followed by a wake for all his friends at Formby Cricket Club L37 7DP

Gerry, 86, has been the heart and soul of Formby Cricket Club for 40 years, as Player, Captain, Chairman and President, playing his last game for the club when aged 69.

Born in  Lees, Oldham, Gerry played his early cricket and made his name in the Saddlworth League, initially playing for Hope Congs. A feared fast bowler he went on to play as club professional at a number of clubs including Uppermill, Austerlands and Delph and Dobcross. After moving to Fomby in the 1980's he quickly joined the 1st X1 before representing Lancashire Over 50's between 1996 to 2002, the year in which the side became National Champions with victory over Kent.

Much loved by every one at Cricket Path and all those warmly welcomed by him when visiting the club, Gerry was also a very competent and effective club official and was always a great support to those running the League.

Condolences, thoughts and prayers to Daisy, Ross and the Byrom Family and all at the Cricket Path.
