L&DCC WOMEN & GIRLS CRICKET 'SUPER 8's' COMP LAUNCHES FIRST WOMEN'S HARDBALL TOURNAMENT

ENTRY OPEN - ** BOOKING NOW **

Dear All

L&DCC are delighted to announce a new women's tournament to add to its expanding offer to female cricketers.

For the first time, hardball cricket is now being offered in the female only pathway via SUPER 8's.

Super 8's is a first step 'transition' product aimed at helping players who feel that they are ready to move up from softball to hardball cricket.

We are offering maximum flexibility to clubs who are able to enter complete teams (teams of 8 players) OR send along a few players or individuals who we can combine with other players to from 'hybrid' teams to compete in the competition.

Women and girls (subject to a minimum age) who are already playing hardball, or have in the past, CAN PLAY in the competition.

Rules are attached but in a summary it is pairs cricket across 16 over innings with scores staring at 200.

Full protective equipment is required and the club or player must supply. We will provide the 5oz women's match ball (pink).

It is expected that the participating players will have been exposed to some hardball activity in training and their club considers they will be able to take part safely in a hardball game.

The games will be played in a supportive environment.

Please remember, at present, sharing of equipment is not advised e.g. batting pads, gloves and helmets which will absorb perspiration.

The Tournament will take place across 2 Sundays this month:

13th September

VENUE: Firwood Bootle CC

Games played at 1000   1230   1500

20th September

VENUE: Hightown St Mary's CC

Games played at 1000   1230   1500

It is envisaged that teams will play one game each on each of the days i.e. team 1 v 2 at 1000, 3 v 4 at 1230 and so on with teams attending for a portion of the day only. The detail on this will be determined once we have all the applications in.

As explained prior to RESTART, the W&G Sub Committee are working extremely hard to get as much of the planned cricket for the 2020 Season played as possible, and as a consequence the window for applications will be shorter than normal. We have had much positive feedback on the delivery of tournaments so far this season, and those words are appreciated.

The Booking Form is attached

http://www.lpoolcomp.co.uk/uploaded_files/documents/Booking_Form_SUPER_8s_2020.docx

Cost per Team £60

PAYMENT METHOD

The process of collecting team/club fees for W&G Cricket has changed this year and will follow the model introduced for the 2020 Indoor Tournament, in March. Competition fees will be collected direct from the clubs via their club statements. Once an application is submitted and there is space, this constitutes a booking and the fee becomes payable. Please make sure you have the full agreement of your club.

We are as confident as we can be that all of the planned activity will take place at the venues above, and on the dates stated. However, in the current circumstances, we need to point out that events locally or regionally may have a bearing on this and at short notice. We will though endeavour to re-schedule activities if faced with that scenario.

We will be following strictly all social distancing and hygiene protocols as prescribed by the ECB and the activities will be taking place in fully risk assessed settings. Everything that has been published to date by the ECB on this has been sent to all W&G contacts. Prior to each of the Meets, full information and instructions relating to the day will be sent out to the competing teams. This will cover spectators and will need to be transmitted to anyone in your party who wishes to attend.

Please return the completed booking form to me at ldccwgcricket@virginmedia.com
