A Liverpool Competition exclusive conversation with Northern's skipper on the morning after the night before.
Many of the Northern CC players and supporters will wake up this morning, after a night of heavy celebration, and begin looking forward to two ECB National Finals in late September, a remarkable achievement.
Meanwhile skipper James Cole still finds the whole situation “slightly surreal”. “I keep thinking about the run chase against Doncaster” he said. “Losing our top order early made things difficult before Ben Edmondson’s tremendous six took us home. What a brilliant feeling”
Reflecting on the task ahead, James referred to the league title battle with Ormskirk and the games with Wallasey, Southport and Birkdale and New Brighton before the last day clash, by a quirk of the fixtures, against Ormskirk. “We need to stay focused”, he remarked, before referring to his team’s impressive national record, without winning any silverware. “ Hopefully our current form and the experience of our players will prove vital” he said “ but I will be reminding them and all our brilliant supporters at the club that the job is only half done “.
