BIRKENHEAD PARK WIN THE LIVERPOOL ECHO CUP
Date: 12th August 2024
Congratulations to them when it rained Sixes all day.
Birkenhead Park won the Liverpool Echo Cup with comprehensive wins over Formby in the first semi-final and Rainford in the Final. Excellent bowling from Malinda Pushpakumara (4 for 3) and Andrew Clarke (3 for 2) saw them into the finals when a batting onslaught from Alex Harris (72) Mark Rowland (77) and Andrew Clarke (66) setting a target of 230. proved far too much for Rainford.
Rainford’s semi-final against Chester Boughton Hall turned out to be a high scoring thriller with the Cheshire outfit posting 208 in 20 Overs. Warren Goodwin (75). An outstanding opening partnership of 186 in 17 overs from Jason Login (92) and Ivan Kriek (85) took Rainford to the brink of victory finished off by John Dotters with a six, just one of many enjoyed by a large crowd on a great day’s cricket
With thanks to Formby for the excellent hosting of the day and to sponsors Love Lane Brewing for the teams beers.
