Success for Northern in NW AREA ECB FINALS DAY & Orrell RT in Chrysalis Cup

TWO GREAT FINALS.
NORTH WEST ECB T20 AREA FINALS.
Northern edged out GMCL's Shaw by 7 wickets in a rain delayed game reduced to 15 overs a side on a highly competitive day which produced high quality cricket to entertain the large crowd at the Northern Club.
After Shaw's Daron Cruikshank (whose exploits are well known to Rainford and St Helens supporters due to his earlier time at those clubs) had added an unbeaten 77 to the century he celebrated in the earlier semi final against Brymbo, Northern's reply was built around 47 from Tyler McGladdey and 31 from Liam Grey before captain James Cole's 24 saw the comp club home with six balls to spare to wild celebrations from the home fans.
Northern held their nerve in a 1 run victory over Blackpool in their Semi Final and Byrmbo gave a good account of themselves as they unsuccessully chased Shaw's imposing 190 for 2 being up with the run rate for most of their innings before losing late wickets.
Thanks to Northern for hosting to their usual high standards and to the three match officials, Steve Fildes, Chris Hyde and Hillal Namajee for their match control and decision making where rain fell or affected the start of the Final
Northern now move on to the Regional Finals at Denby CC, Derbyshire on 25 August where Doncaster CC (Yorks Southern PL), Oxton CC (Cheshire County CL) and Townville CC (Bradford League) will compete to progress to Finals Day
2nd X1 T20 FINALS DAY (CHRYSALIS CUP) AT ORRELL 4 AUGUST
Host's Orrell RT beat Wigan by 40 runs to win the 2nd XI Chrysalis T20 cup final
Earlier Orrell RT had beaten Ormskirk by default after their opponents fielded an ineligible player and Wigan had overcome Colwyn Bay by 4 wickets in the Semi Finals
