2nd year of placement at University Grange CC, Dunedin.

Year 2 of THE CHRIS WESTON BURSARY SCHEME

The L&DCC Management Committee are pleased to continue with the commitment to the development of young cricketers, with a substantial opportunity for a young player to travel and play at University Grange CC, New Zealand in 2024/25.

The bursary, now in the second year and named after former League Secretary Chris Weston, after his 26 years excellent service, includes return airfare, visa costs and some incidental travel expenses.  Accommodation will be provided by the University Grange Club

 The first recipient, in 2023/24 was Luke Russell (Colwyn Bay)

About University Grange CC

UGCC play in the Dunedin Cricket Association, with teams playing from Premier Grade to Third Grade and is the former club of Wigan CC’s Aaron Redmond. The club currently have the services of NZ First Class cricketer Shaun Hicks as Head Coach.

Player Eligibility Criteria.

To be eligible for the bursary a player must be:

  • Available to travel and play for the duration of the NZ cricket season (October – March)
  • An amateur player (this excludes Lancashire Academy players)
  • Aged between 18 and 23 for the duration of the visit
  • Registered to and playing for a L&DCC Senior Affiliated Club  
  • Eligible for an appropriate New Zealand entry visa that will permit paid work
  • Before you travel to New Zealand | Immigration New Zealand
  • In possession of a current DBS or Police Clearance Certificate before travelling.
  • A coaching qualification is not necessary but would be an advantage
  • A full driving licence would also be an advantage

Expressions of interest in the form of a Personal and Cricket CV, together with no more than 150 words describing what you can offer the host club and how you would aim to benefit from the experience, including a named referee from your current club to be returned no later than Wednesday 31 July 2024 to: johnawilliams1@btinternet.comfrom whom informal enquiries are welcomed on 07767441978.

Selection will be made jointly by the University Grange Club and the L&DCC.
