MATTIE McKIERNAN JOINS COMP PLAYER DEVELOPMENT COACHING TEAM

LCF to deliver the Programme again, now in its 16th year.

Saturday 13 January sees the 16th year of the Liverpool Competition’s Player Development Programme. Part funded by the use of the fines paid by clubs in the 2023 season it is all set to provide quality cricket development for 96 of the Comp’s talented youngsters.

Delivered by the Lancashire Cricket Foundation’s Development Programme Team and this year based at the Birkenhead Park CC Indoor Cricket Centre, the boys and girls will each receive 10 hours individual and group coaching during the next few months.

Former Derbyshire County all-rounder and one of the Liverpool Competition’s longest serving players, Mattie McKiernan, now pursuing a coaching career, joins the Coaching Team this year and, subject to availability, will be supporting the Comp’s Inter-League programme in the summer months.

Liverpool Competition Chair, Eddie Shiff, commented “The League is delighted with the new look programme and the link with the Foundation, and is particularly pleased that an initiative from former Chairman Ted Williams all those years ago and continued by our recent Chairman John Williams, is still going strong. I’m sure everyone will benefit greatly from it.”
