ALEX ROBERTS ARRIVES AT RAKE LANE
Tim Watkins (Captain of New Brighton) welcomes all rounder Alex Roberts to Rake Lane on Saturday, 11th April during two warm-up 20 over matches when in Easter sunshine Alex figured encouragingly with both bat & ball.
Born on June 21, 1983 at Stockton-on-Tees, Co Durham, his major teams have included
Cumberland, Durham 2nd XI, England Under-19s, Essex, Essex 2nd XI,
Marylebone Cricket Club Young Cricketers, Yorkshire 2nd XI and Yorkshire Cricket Board.
A Right-hand bat & bowling Right-arm medium, he was the leading scorer of 103n.o. last season when a member of Northallerton and playing for the North Yorks & South Durham League v L&DCC in the Presidents Trophy at Ormskirk in a semi-final which his team won by 8 wkts.
He figured in a tense 1 run victory for his county club Essex v Kent at Chelmsford in June 2008 when 147-5 played 146 -8 in a Twenty20 Cup match. Former Wallasey/Zimbabwean player Grant Flower took 3-21 in the same match.
