BUSINESS AS USUAL
Date: 14th August 2019
A few words from the (re-elected) Chairman.
Following my re-election as Chair of the Liverpool Gin Liverpool and District Cricket Competition I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who attended Tuesdays SGM, some of whom I know, travelled long distances. I would also like to thank the many clubs and individuals for their tremendous and valued support for me and the Management Committee, in what has been a difficult and uncomfortable time for our League.
The Liverpool Competition has a proud and fully democratic Constitution and set of Playing Regulations, established well before many of us became players or officials in the League, and it is this that guides us and determines everything we do. No one individual, nor the Management Committee, is empowered to act outside of this. It is the Clubs who decide.
We now look forward to continuing with the day to day management of the league, looking after 65 matches between 130 teams every weekend; fielding u12 and u18 representative teams in the next 10 days; hosting our final Women’s and Girls Festival at Liverpool CC and staging numerous cup finals in the coming weeks.
As we have previously said, our discussion and listening sessions in the Autumn and at the End of Season Meeting will primarily focus on finding solutions to participation levels in 2nd and 3rd X1s and the current shortage of umpires but we welcome thoughts and contributions on anything which clubs believe will improve the quality of cricket on offer within the Comp.
Thank you once again.
John Williams
