REPRESENTATIVE CRICKET UPDATE

Vengsarkar's boys too strong but plenty more games to come

The Representative season is now well underway with a Comp Colts X1 entertaining Dilip Vengsarkar’s Academy at Highfield CC on Thursday. A young Comp outfit compiled 215 for 8 after being 91 for 7 with contributions from Ben Mahoney (63 not out) Harry Moxham (51 not out) and Ehren Agarwal (29). The visitors from India proved much too strong and won by 6 wickets.  (Picture shows Rudra Singh on behalf of Dilip Vengsarkar presenting a plaque to commemorate the game to Highfield Chairman Brian Lancaster).

Meanwhile the U12s and the U14s are in Inter-League action this Sunday against the Wigan Junior League, at Newton Le Willows and Hightown respectively.

Forthcoming matches include the 12s and 14s in action again on 21 July against the Lancashire League and a Comp Under 25 side playing a Brunswick Sussex Touring Side at Liverpool on 23 July and the MCC AT New Brighton on 6 August.

The Under 18s are due to play the Bolton Cricket League (tba) with the winners meeting the GMCL U18s.

The Comp is extremely grateful to the clubs giving their support to the League and hosting games and to the MCUA umpires giving their time to officiate. It is also grateful to the small group of individuals enabling our youngsters and players to experience representative cricket, this year particularly, Andy Grice, Mark Boyns, Rob Durand and John Williams.
