A Cracking Final!

A large and enthusiastic crowd, who gathered at Croxteth Drive on Sunday, witnessed an excellent derby game between Sefton Park and Liverpool to see which of the Kelly brothers (Peter or Dan) would claim bragging rights in the final of the Ray Tyler Cup. A trophy named after a wonderful servant of both clubs.

Sefton Park batted first and had Sean Vandome with a wonderful 81 to thank as the main basis for their score of 220 all out in the final over. Late contributions came from Greg Harvey 31 and Neil Durand 30. Left arm spinner Jared Clein the most successful of the bowlers with 3 for 44.

Liverpool's opening pair of Henry Charlton (40) and captain Matty Jackson (27) gave the visitors a solid opening partnership of 64. Following Jackson's departure Luke Procter then gave a masterly display of his quality as he batted through to finish on 60 not out. A mid innings mini - collapse gave the home side some hope but Clein then batted wonderfully well to see the Aigburth men home with 17 balls and three wickets to spare.

Man-of-the-Match for his all-round efforts was rightly awarded, by the two umpires, to Jared Clein.

Many thanks to Charles Daniels and the rest of the Sefton Park club for their excellent hosting of the final.
