Peter Buchanan breaks new ground at Church Road.
Lytham Cricket Club has taken the unprecedented step of hiring an overseas coach for the 2018 season.
Peter Buchanan, from Melbourne, Australia, arrives in the UK next week to start training with senior and junior players at the Church Road club
.
Peter holds a Level 3 High Performance Coaching Accreditation and has taught at Peninsula Grammar School and Prahran Cricket Club.
As well as being a successful coach, he has also played in the Australian Premier Cricket League including the championship winning side for the well-known St Kilda Club in 1985/86.
Lytham Cricket Club Chairman, Len Hackett said Peter would support the club’s senior teams and its junior section which goes from strength to strength each year.
“Traditionally, clubs have always appointed overseas player coaches to help them on and off the field however, a disappointing 2017 season led us to try a fresh approach with a change in mind set and priorities.“The junior set up at Church Road attracts a serious number of juniors from the local area and it was decided a dedicated coach would help improve Lytham’s fortunes both in the coming season and for years to come.“Peter is very much looking forward to getting started at Lytham and with him staying locally, he will be at the ground most days so I’m sure everyone will make him feel at home!” said Len.
Junior Registration at Lytham CC takes this Friday 6th April 6pm to 8pm. www.lythamcricket.co.uk
