AIGBURTH CC'S FIGHT TO KEEP THEIR GROUND CONTINUES

Date: 19th November 2014

Comp players raise £650 to help their cause

The Liverpool Competition has received an update from Aigburth Cricket Club Treasurer Ian Macalley on the Club’s fight to keep possession of their cricket ground. Aigburth have now received the sum of £650 raised by players within the Comp at the rain affected bank holiday game against the Southport and District League and the raffle held at the Annual Dinner.

In thanking the Comp for their generosity Ian disclosed that their campaign has entered a new phase. “The sum raised by the Liverpool Competition is brilliant” he said “and it is also good to know that so many people are supporting us. We set ourselves a target of raising £10,000 to cover our legal costs and this donation takes us just over the £8000 mark”.

The eviction deadline has passed with the club issuing a formal writ on their Landlord and they are awaiting for details of a preliminary meeting to be held. Should this step not prove successful then they are preparing for a formal court hearing.

Meanwhile the cricket club continues to function and Ian says that the members are hopeful of starting the season in 2015 still on their Southwood Road Ground.
