FURTHER INFO AWAITED BUT CRICKET IS BACK. THE COMP WILL START ON 1 AUGUST.

LOTS TO DO FOR CLUBS TO PREPARE. THIS UPDATE SHOULD HELP.

Brilliant News at last from the ECB that recreational cricket is to resume from 11 July. Like everyone else we now await the exact details of the Stage 4 competitive cricket with adjustments, together with the associated hygiene and safety guidance.  .

In the meantime we confirm that our plan for the return of Competitive Cricket in the Liverpool Competition remains as set out in the posting on 26 June with a start date of Saturday 1 August:

As stated in the posting we know that clubs are at different levels of preparation, with at least one Council owned facility required to give three weeks’ notice and our Welsh Clubs currently operating to different timescales. We also know that those clubs able to start earlier will be in a position to arrange friendly/warm fixtures.

ACTIONS REQUIRED NOW

All clubs are required to follow the guidance in the GETTING YOUR CLUBHOUSE READY FOR STEP 4 document and in particular the following three essential additional documents which we have extracted and highlighted from the overall guidance.

1 The ECB has finalised guidance on preparing your clubhouse and grounds for when recreational clubs can return to playing cricket in England.

In particular all Clubs are required to complete the Action Checklist and undertake a Covid-19 Risk Assessment and publish this to all your users. Prior to the start of the League Competitive Programme on 1 August clubs are required to confirm in writing to the League Secretary that this has been completed.

Please also find 2 here a download to the Action Checklist and the COVID-19 risk assessment template 3 here. These documents can be adapted to individual circumstances and used to inform discussions with your facility provider about safe opening (which may include discussions with Local Authorities or education providers).

JUNIORS and WOMEN’S and GIRLS

A separate note will be sent to clubs in the next few days asking for nominations for mini leagues at U15 U13 U11 and U9. Depending on the response and the Stage 4 information it is hoped to begin these during the week commencing 27 July.

The Women’s and Girls sections within the Comp have recently received an update from Paul Bate and the W+G SUB Committee.

NEXT STEPS

The Comp Restart Group is meeting again this Tuesday to finalise the promised flexible registration arrangements, confirm the groups and move forward on all other issues, including umpires.

We will confirm these details as soon as possible after Tuesday – which should tie in with the release from the ECB with details of the Stage 4 Adaptions (sometime around then) enabling clubs to have the complete picture.

Thank you to everyone for your continued support and patience, we are nearly there.

John Williams   on behalf of the Management Committee and Restart Group.
