GET THE GAME ON!

an ECB update May 2016

Ground, weather and light - guidance for leagues, clubs, captains and players

The ECB Association of Cricket Officials (ECB ACO) has recently published guidance to all its members to assist umpires to decide, under the MCC Laws of Cricket, if play should be allowed to start, continue or resume, solely as a consequence of weather or ground-related conditions.

ECB has provided a summary of the guidance given to umpires specifically for leagues, clubs, captains and players.  A copy of the guidance is available here. Please share this guidance with clubs, captains and players throughout your leagues.

If you have any questions or queries about this guidance please direct them to the League Helpdesk - getthegameon@ecb.co.uk

May’s good practice – The Cheshire County Cricket League

The Cheshire County Cricket League has been proactive in contacting all their clubs following nine matches being lost out of 18 scheduled last weekend.  Two sets of umpires contacted the league, recognising the Get the Game On campaign, suggesting that more could have been done on the day to get their match started albeit late (at least a minimum overs match).
