TREMENDOUS WOMEN'S and GIRLS FINALS DAY to round off another SUCCESSFUL SEASON
Date: 29th September 2022
Honours go to Sefton Park, Bootle Belles, Northern Ladies, Wavertree Girls, Maghull Maidens, Ormskirk and Mawdesley..
The L&DCC Women's & Girls Season was brought to a highly exciting conclusion at the recent Finals Day held at Northern CC.
The showpiece Women's T20 League Final was won by Sefton Park who retained their title. Having been asked to bat first by Firwood Bootle Belles, they posted 114-2 (Amjad 50 no, Sarah John 42). Unfortunately, the game was ended early by rain with Belles 58-5 after 15 overs, with the title being decided on run rate.
Earlier, the 2 Women's Super 8's Plate Competition Finals (Softball and Hardball) took place, producing extremely exciting and tense finishes. In the Softball Final, Firwood Bootle Belles batting first posted 301 (H Gallimore 33). Sefton Park in reply were seemingly comfortable going into the last over needing 6 to win. However, an outstanding bowling effort by Prasanya in the final over (3 wickets for 3 runs), saw the Belles take the silver salver in dramatic fashion.
In the Hardball Plate Competition Final, equal drama was witnessed. Northern Ladies, batting first against Sefton Park, set a target of 267 (E.Sinker 16). Sefton needed 7 to win in the final over and won on the very last ball. Amani Riz scored 20.
Elsewhere in the latter stages of the season, the Women's Softball Super 8's League title went to Firwood Bootle Belles, and the Development League title for the competition went to Maghull Maidens. In the entry level competition, the Women's Softball League was retained by Mawdesley, and the Development League was won by newcomers Ormskirk who did so with a 100% record.
The Women's Hardball Super 8's League title also went to Firwood Bootle Belles, and the Development League to Northern Ladies. At U15 level, Wavertree retained their Girls U15 Hardball Super 8's League title.
Congratulation go to all the winning teams and to every player from every club who turned out to play in our competitions this season.
With thanks to Liz Sinker, Paul Bate and their many helpers and newly qualified coaches.
