Although there is some uncertainty about the ability to undertake these programmes, we have taken the view that we should prepare and be ready, should indoor coaching for youngsters be again possible.  We therefore offer the opportunity to clubs to nominate players as detailed below.

We launch the 13th year of the Boys programme and are very pleased to introduce the 1st year of a Development Programme for girls. The details are as follows:

Boys Programme (Sundays)

Cricket Ages U9 U10 U11:  10 hrs coaching from 3pm to 4pm Sunday 17 January to Sun 20 March

Cricket Ages U12 U13 u14: 10 hrs coaching from 4pm to 6pm on 5 Sundays between Sunday 17 January and Sunday 20 March.

Cricket Ages U15 U16 U17: 10 hrs coaching from 4pm to 6pm on 5 Sundays between Sunday 17 January and Sunday 20 March.

All Member and Associate Clubs are invited to nominate one player to attend, together with a second nomination which will be accommodated if space is available. Players should be playing regularly at club level and aspiring to, or already at, District or Inter League Representative Level.

Nominees for the new category of U9 U10 U11 must have significant experience of hardball cricket, practice or in matches.

The programme is once again managed by Steve Critchley Level 3 Coach and Course Tutor together with a combination of experienced Level 3 Coaches.

HOW TO NOMINATE: Email Steve Critchley sjcritchley@outlook.com BY NO LATER THAN 27 NOVEMBER with the following details: Club, Name, DOB, Primary Skill (bat bowl pace spin wk) Playing Level (club-district-representative) together with a contact email and phone number of the nominated player. Girls Programme (Saturdays)

Cricket Ages U11 to U17: Two cohorts. 10 hours coaching from 1pm to 2pm and 10 hours coaching from 2pm to 3pm – Saturday 16 January to Saturday 19 March.

Those clubs with established W+G sections and have taken part in tournaments in 2019 and 2020 may nominate two players. All other Member Clubs and Associate Clubs may nominate one player. Players must have had an appropriate experience of hard ball cricket, in practice or matches.

The programme is managed by Paul Bate, L&DCC Women’s and Girls Officer and will be delivered by experienced Level 3 Coaches supported by some of our own Women players currently pursuing coaching qualifications.

HOW TO NOMINATE: Email Paul Bate: ldccwgcricket@virginmedia.com BY NO LATER THAN 27 NOVEMBER  with the following details: Club, Name, DOB, Primary Skill (bat bowl pace spin wk) Playing experience together with a contact email and phone number of the nominated player.

COSTS :   The costs of the programmes are usually met out of the fines paid by clubs during the previous season, plus, in order to ensure continued commitment throughout the programme from the player, clubs are levied a charge of £50 per player (£5 per hour). This is included in the club's pre-season statement. With no fines in 2020 we do need to retain the club charge, with the difference (around £2000) to be met from League reserves.
