Ingenuity saves the day!

The 2017 Digman Cup Final was finally-finally played today but it took a two-team "Can Do" attitude to do it.

The Bootle v Northern final was drawn, as per the 2017 draw, to be played at Bootle, however the outfield at Bootle was soaked yet again on Saturday by a seriously aggressive hail storm that stopped play, the game was simply unplayable at Bootle on Sunday.

The two captains Craig Prince and James Cole were given the opportunity to rearrange by the league but neither club had any free Sundays. In a splendid spirit of Get the Game On, both clubs quickly agreed to beat "The Curse of Digman 2017" and to reverse the fixture and play on Northern's pitch from Saturday! Genius!

Northern CC and Bootle rose to the challenge of track and teas magnificently and a 40 over game started at 2.30pm.

Bootle won the toss and elected to bat scoring 131 for 6 (40 overs) Danny Davies batted at 1 and carried his bat for 67.

Northern replied with 132 also for 6 in 34.5 overs with Chris Laker scoring exactly 50.

Northern won by 4 wickets.

A first in the history of the Comp and a day that reflected great credit on both clubs, well done all!

Man of the Match was Chris Laker of Northern.
