INTER-LEAGUE CRICKET PLANS FOR 2020 (with a quick look at 2019)

Date: 21st November 2019

Representatives from the Leagues forming the Lancashire Inter-Leagues Competitions group recently met at Farnworth Cricket Club to reflect on the 2019 Inter-League season and importantly to look ahead and plan for 2020.

Led by Chairman Brian Woodhead and Secretary Bob Hinchliffe, the Bolton League, GMCL, Liverpool Competition, Northern League and the Ribblesdale League first of all recognised the outstanding 31 years of service by Bob Hinchliffe and renamed the Senior Inter League Trophy in his honour. Bob was delighted with the tribute saying that he was proud to be involved with a competition which enabled the finest club cricketers in the county to test themselves against each other. He thanked Brian Woodhead, a man who has done plenty for cricket in Lancashire, for his continued support.

The meeting congratulated the GMCL as winners of the Senior Trophy when defeating theRibblesdale League in the T20 final on the day splendidly hosted by Egerton Cricket Club and the Northern League for their success in the U18 (Colts) competition after beating the Bolton League in the final.

The programme for 2020 was agreed with the Seniors T20 Finals day scheduled for Bank Holiday Monday 25 May to be hosted at a ground in the Ribblesdale League. The draw pitched the Northern League against GMCL in a preliminary round with the winners to play the Bolton League in the first semi-final on Finals Day. The second semi-final will see the Ribblesdale League taking on the Liverpool Competition.

The Bolton League, GMCL, Liverpool Competition and Northern League will compete for the Colts Trophy playing in a round robin league against each other in May, July and August.

The 2019 Inter-League Roll of Honour, incorporating the Lancashire Cricket U14 and U12 Competitions is therefore:

Seniors GMCL    U18 (Colts)   Northern League  U14   Bolton Cricket League  U12  Liverpool Competition
