WOMEN and GIRLS ALL SET FOR INAUGURAL TOURNAMENT

10 and 24 March - 10 teams to compete for Liverpool Comp Indoor Title

The Liverpool Competition Women’s and Girls section hosts its first ever Women’s and Girls Indoor Tournament this March over two Sundays (10th and 24th) at the Toxteth Firefit Hub in Liverpool.

Played in a league format, four Girls U15 teams from Colwyn Bay, Hightown St Mary’s, Old Xaverians and Wavertree and six Women’s teams from Colwyn Bay, Liverpool, Old Xaverians, Bootle, Southport and Birkdale and Wavertree will play in two pre-season events ( Girls and Womens) which the Competition intends to become a permanent fixture.

The games are to be umpired by members of the Merseyside Cricket and Umpires Association (MCUA) and scorers are being provided by the organisers.

The development of Women’s and Girls cricket across the Liverpool Competition area is on the increase and the League is working closely with the Lancashire County Women’s and Girls Section to provide more opportunities in the Women’s and Girls’ game.

Paul Bate, the Liverpool Competition’s appointed Women’s and Girls Officer is delighted with the inaugural competition. “There has been a steady increase in interest from our clubs in the last twelve months or so and I am pleased that we can now produce a competitive competition for our Women and Girls to play in.  With colleagues across the County we have plenty more opportunities to offer individuals and clubs throughout the summer ahead.
