The Merseyside Cricket Society meets this coming Thursday 21st February 7.30pm at Sefton Park Cricket Club when the guest speaker is Chris Lewis who is a former England cricketer who played for Nottinghamshire, Surrey and Leicestershire in the 1990s. He played in thirty-two Tests and fifty-three ODIs for England from 1990 to 1998 and whose career came to an abrupt and well publicised end in 2008.
Visitors and guests are welcome.
He is also speaking the evening before i.e. on Wednesday 20th February at the West Lancs Cricket Society who meet in the Royal Clifton Hotel, Southport.
The Merseyside Cricket Society informs that it still has a few tickets available for their Annual Dinner 2019 on Thursday 21st March at 7.30 pm. The speaker will be Phil "Daffy" DeFreitas.
He played county cricket for Leicestershire, Lancashire and Derbyshire, as well as appearing in 44 Test matches and 103 ODIs. Cricket writer Colin Bateman noted that "DeFreitas was an explosive hitter when the mood took him, an aggressive pace bowler, inclined to pitch everything short and a spectacular fielder".
