CRICKET COVERAGE IS ALIVE AND WELL IN THE LIVERPOOL ECHO

Comp agrees to run the Liverpool Echo Knockout Cup

We are delighted to report that the Liverpool Echo’s commitment to the coverage of local cricket and in particular the Liverpool Gin Liverpool Competition remains unchanged. Cricket coverage, as with all sports coverage at the Echo, has recently been under review in what is a particularly challenging time for the printed word in the current social media environment.

At a meeting with Dave Prentice, the Liverpool Echo Sports Editor and League Officials, it was confirmed that coverage would continue under Tom Evans, the Liverpool Echo Joint Night Editor. Tom will seek to produce a preview piece prior to each weekend’s action with a results piece to be published some time the following week. In particular, Tom is looking for stories and news items from all Liverpool Competition Clubs together with pictures, with immediate effect and throughout the season and will make contact with each of our 41 clubs to introduce himself.

In addition The Liverpool Competition has agreed to organise and manage the Liverpool Echo Knockout Cup in 2018 on behalf of the Echo Newspaper in what will be the 44th year of this popular competition. Details of the competition, which will continue to include all clubs covered by the Liverpool Echo distribution area including Cheshire and North Wales, will be published in due course.
