LANCASHIRE THUNDER ROAR AGAINST OUR COLTS

Young side perform well but beaten in warm up by well organised and talented team.

The Liverpool Competition Colts were beaten by Lancashire Thunder this week as the Kia Super League team completed their preparations for the T20 Tournament which begins for the Lancashire outfit on Friday at Headingly (Live on Sky TV 14.30)

Electing to bowl first the Thunder unleashed their five primary bowlers, Lea Tahuhu (New Zealand), Sophie Ecclestone (Lancashire and England), Jess Jonassen (Australia), Dani Hazell (England) and New Zealand skipper Amy Satterthwaite to restrict the Competition lads to 94 for 8 in their 20 overs. Ben Walkden top scored with 26 and Robert Rankin contributed 17 with Satterthwaite proving too good taking 5 for 14 and Ellie Threlkeld claiming three stumpings.

Lancashire Women’s opener Evelyn Jones dominated the Thunder reply with 45 not out and was helped by 23 from Satterthwaite, clearly a player to watch throughout the tournament, as the Thunder eased home by seven wickets with three overs to spare. Nathan Pickering and Ehren Agarwal picked up a wicket each with Emma Lamb being run out.
