WAVERTREE'S INITIATIVE LEADS TO BLIND and VISUALLY IMPAIRED CHALLENGE MATCH

Date: 12th July 2016

Friday 15 July at Sandown Lane.

This Friday (15 July) sees a very special event at Wavertree Cricket Club when the Blind and Visually Impaired (VI) group of cricketers that have become regulars on Friday nights at Sandown Lane this season will take on the sighted section of Wavertree cricketers (albeit blindfolded) in a challenge match.

Eamon Preston, Project Leader with Sports and Activity for the Visually Impaired (SAVI North West) who are working together with Wavertree’s cricketers and officials, is delighted with the support received from the club. “This is a tremendous opportunity to build something real and inclusive for Visually Impaired sport “he said. “It is rare to be able to play on a weekly basis with our players given every opportunity to develop and improve their game. Everyone looks forward to the sessions and we are all particularly looking forward to Friday’s match”.

Alongside the cricket there will be face painting, refreshments, live music and a fundraising raffle. The game starts at 6pm and all are welcome to attend and help raise funds to build and sustain the initiative. Donations for Raffle prizes are invited.
