SEVEN IMPROVEMENT GRANTS AWARDED TO HELP CLUBS IMPROVE FACILITIES

Date: 26th February 2016

24 bids received in overwhelming response from clubs

Grants totalling £3450 have been awarded to seven Med Imaging Liverpool and District Cricket Competition clubs following the Management Committee’s decision to release funds to support clubs in improving their facilities. Although the scheme originally provided for £500 awards to be made to five clubs in each of the next two years, the response was so overwhelming with 24 clubs submitting applications that an increased amount to a greater number of clubs has been made in this year.  The League will repeat the scheme next year.

Awards have been made to Burscough (repairs to vandalised score-box); Leigh (economy pitch covers) Newton Le Willows (improve umpires room and toilets) Norley Hall (Kitchen refurbishment) Southport Trinity (Refurbishment of score-box and scoreboard) Spring View (refurbishment of umpires room and dressing rooms) Wavertree (replace flooring in dressing rooms).

Alan Bristow, L&DCC Treasurer, said “We were pleased and surprised with such a large response from our clubs. It made the Cricket Committee’s task of deciding on the grants extremely difficult with all of the bids well worth supporting. As such we have released more funds than originally intended but hope it goes some way towards helping those clubs improve their facilities”.
