DRAWS FOR EIGHT CUP COMPETITIONS NOW PUBLISHED.

Date: 17th February 2016

Northern host Bootle in high profile opener; New 3rd X1 Cup named after Mike Leddy.

The eight cup draws made on Tuesday at the Cricket Committee (as directed in the Management Bulletin section) have, as usual, thrown up a host of interesting ties.

2015 Cup Kings Ormskirk see their Ray Digman holders with a home tie to Orrell with their 2nd X1, successful in the Chester Cup, last year playing in the reverse tie at Winstanley Road. The Brook lane outfit begin their pursuit of the ECB t20 Competition with a bye followed by a home time with Rainford.

The tie of the round in the Ray Digman is undoubtedly Northern v Bootle with James Cole and Craig Prince and their teams doing battle in the opening game of the season.

The new 2nd X1 T20 is launched this year with 24 teams choosing to take part with 2nd X1 Premier League Champions Bootle hosting Old Xavarians in the first round.

The 3rd X1’s now compete for two cups, 40 overs and a T20. The Embee Trophy was transferred to the T20 competition a few years ago and the newly acquired 3rd  X1 40 over trophy has been named The Mike Leddy Trophy, in memory of a man who gave so much to Merseyside Cricket, particularly at 3rd X1 level.

The Under 16 and Under 21 draws are also featured with 32 teams electing to take part in the two competitions.
