BOOTLE WIN LANCS KO; NEW BRIGHTON JUST FAIL IN CHESHIRE; ORMSKIRK WIN RAY DIGMAN IN A THRILLER AT THE BAY

Cup Final Sunday produces three close finishes.

Bootle won the LWC Drinks LCB Lancashire KO cup against Littleborough at Blackpool in fine style by four wickets with 13 balls to go. Chris Cunningham put in a man of the match shift taking by taking 3 crucial wickets in one over and claiming 4 for 19,  backed up by Chris Stenhouse (3 for 18) the Lancashire League side were bowled out for 182. The Bootle reply made stealthy progress with five players reaching the 25 mark or more, Will Purser top scoring with 39, as they steadily reached their target for skipper Craig Prince to lift the cup.

New Brighton made a brave attempt to chase down Chester Boughton Hall's 264 for 8 in the Cheshire KO Cup but failed by just 22 runs as wickets and overs ran out. Luke Procter (81) Khurram Hussain (43) and David While (32) led the chase.

Ormskirk claimed the Ray Digman Trophy at Colwyn Bay in the most dramatic fashion when, on the last ball of the game with the scores tied on 202 and with their last pair at the wicket, Dane Currency blocked the delivery to give them the win on fewer wickets lost. It was an enthralling finish to a quality game of cricket which saw Sami Fallah.( 69) and Harrison Jones ( 63) help the Bay to a total of 202 with Ormskirk's Jamie Barnes taking the bowling honours with 5 for 44. The Ormskirk reply stuttered early on but was boosted by a fine partnership from skipper Matt Glayzer ( 58) which earned him the Man of the match award and Michael Jones (47). Still with work to do Simon Kerrigan took them to the brink of victory with 39 before he was dismissed by the first ball of the last over when just three runs were needed. New batsman Martyn Farrell was then dismissed leaving two still required off three balls and after last man Jamie Barnes had grabbed a single, Currency stayed calm to give Ormskirk the victory.
