COLE LEADS FROM THE FRONT AS NORTHERN TRIUMPH IN NATIONAL KO

Northern progressed to the last eight of the Royal London ECB National Knockout Trophy with a 25 run win at Ockbrook and Borrowash CC. Batting first they were steered to their total of 158 off 44.4 overs with a captain’s innings from James Cole. Cole (67) came to the crease with his team in trouble at 44 for 4 and with help from Jack Boardman’s valuable 30, departed after being run out with the score on 153 for 9.
An all-round bowling performance then saw Northern to victory with Ryan Maddock (3 for19) Paul Park (3 for 31) and Tom Sephton (2 for 34) dismissing the Derbyshire outfit for 133.
Northern now entertain Kimberley Institute in the quarter finals on Sunday 9 August.
