Peter McCann – Behind the Scenes

Peter takes on a variety of roles at Skelmersdale Cricket Club, including secretary, coach and welfare officer and was an integral part of securing Clubmark status and also funding to renovate the practice area. He is heavily involved in fundraising and recruitment of members through the organisation of club open days as well as Cricketforce Days. He also updates and maintains the cricket club website. In addition Peter has helped with a number of activities within the Liverpool Competition, including managing last winter’s indoor cricket tournament at St Bede’s.

Stephen Griffiths of Skelmersdale Cricket Club said: “Without Peter’s contribution, Skelmersdale CC would not be the thriving club it is today.”

Bobby Denning, LCB Managing Director commented “Peter does what it says on the tin. He works as a volunteer for no other reason than to make a difference and because of his passion for the game – behind the scenes. This recognition is well deserved based on Peters commitment to take on things, others probably wouldn’t.”

Peter shared his award with Pauline Toop from Euxton CC.

Sean Patten – Young Volunteer

‘Starting as a junior with Old Xaverians and St Francis Xavier, Sean has shown a high level of commitment and dedication to the game. He is currently a Level 2 Cricket Coach and currently runs the U13s teams. He is involved in the Chance to Shine programme, working within the community and with schools, working in after schools projects to link players from the school to local clubs.

David Reynolds of Old Xaverians said of Sean “He is a great young cricketer, a great coach and on field role model”

Bobby Denning, LCB Managing Director commented “At a time when the game has challenges to recruit and retain young players, the same applies with young volunteers. The work Sean puts in has been recognised and we are delighted to do so”
