INDOOR CRICKET: RAINHILL and RAINFORD HEAD FOR OLD TRAFFORD

Inaugural competition has been a great success.

We are now in the final week of the L&DCC Indoor Cricket Competition featuring 19 teams, including three universities and three teams from the Southport and District League.

Rainhill have emerged as champions of the St Margaret’s Centre, with Liverpool University 1 finishing runners up. Edge Hill 1 and Rainford have won their respective groups at St Bede’s with Wigan and Edge Hill 2 finishing runners up.

As the National ECB Club Competition is not open to Universities (who have their own national championship) Rainford will join Rainhill in the LCB Area Finals day at the Emirates Old Trafford Indoor Centre on Sunday 4 January, together with other teams across Lancashire.

The competition has been a great success and we intend to repeat the arrangements next year, from October to December 2015.

Thanks are due to John Farrell and the MCUA for sorting umpires and Sam Goodall (St Margaret’s) and Peter McCann (St Bede’s) for managing each centre.
