RAIN HALTS REP GAME AT SEFTON PARK but £300 RAISED TO HELP AIGBURTH

Both Comp and S+D Leagues to continue to help club fight for their ground.

Monday’s Representative match between the Med Imaging Liverpool and District Cricket Competition and the Southport and District Amateur Cricket League eventually fell foul of the weather after being reduced to a T20.

The game, played at Sefton Park, got underway at 1.30 but with the Liverpool Competition on 77 for 4 in the 13th over, the rain became too heavy and the ground subsequently became unfit for play.

On a brighter note those involved in the game together with a hardy group of spectators raised just over £300 to go towards Aigburth CC’s fighting fund to keep their cricket ground. (This includes a generous donation of £100 from the Sefton Park Club).

Aigburth President Brian Daley was present to thank both Leagues and the players for their generosity and emphasised how much the support of the local cricket community meant to their club.

NB – The signed bat donated by Lancashire CCC was held over to be raffled or auctioned, in aid of Aigburth CC, at the L&DCC Annual Dinner to be held this year on Friday 10 October.
