WEEK THREE: HEADLINES AND RESULTS

Date: 11th May 2014

Ormskirk, Rainford and St Helens Town on top; S+B topple champions; Prestatyn dismiss Caldy for 25.

PREMIER DIVISION

Ormskirk are now the only club with a 100% record after a 9 wicket win at Birkenhead Park. Southport and Birkdale provided the day’s shock with a battling seven wicket win over Northern and Wallasey had a comprehensive win at the Oval against Bootle. Lytham kept up their good start with a fine win over Fleetwood Hesketh; Leigh and Maghull were foiled by rain after starting and Rainhill v New Brighton was abandoned at lunchtime.

DIVISION ONE

Rainford made it three from three maximums with a 123 run win at Wavertree whilst Northop Hall, with an excellent 5 wicket win at Formby in a high scoring affair, and Wigan who beat Ainsdale by five wickets, also recorded a hat trick of wins. Orrell were denied a probable victory at Colwyn Bay by the rain; the clash at Newton Le Willows against Highfield had a similar fate with the game nicely poised and Sefton Park and Liverpool drew.

DIVISION TWO

St Helens Town had a competitive 3 wicket win over Birkenhead St Mary’s to stay top whilst Prestatyn bowled Caldy out for the day’s lowest total to win by 8 wickets. Alder beat Hightown by 5 wickets; Old Xaverians and Skelmersdale had a closely fought draw; Burscough v Parkfield Liscard fell to the rain after 43 overs and Sutton v Spring View was abandoned.
