NEW MANAGEMENT STATEMENT ON CURRENT SITUATION

Date: 28th April 2020

Includes relevant Grant details.

Clubs will be aware of the latest release from the ECB saying that “no professional cricket will be played in England and Wales until at least 1 July due to the COVID-19 pandemic” and that “the suspension of recreational cricket remains until further notice”.

We write to update and inform you of relevant information, starting importantly with Financial Support and Grants.

Business Rate Relief Grants for Retail, Hospitality, and Leisure Sectors. This includes Cricket Clubs.  Those with a rateable value of less than £15,000 will receive £10,000 and those businesses with a rateable value of between £15,000 and £51,000 will be provided with a grant of £25,000. We know that a good number of clubs have already received, or are in the process of applying, for this grant and full details are available on the link below;

Both of the above schemes are available for application through the Lancashire Cricket Foundation (formerly Board) via lcfcontact@lancashirecricket.co.uk and again we know that some of our clubs are in the process of doing so. Full details below:

Other Information

For our part we are having regular management meetings via Zoom and take part in the ECB teleconferences for ECB Premier Leagues and other ECB officials and are in frequent contact with the Lancashire Cricket Foundation.

Like everyone else we do not know when, or if, recreational cricket will return this season so there are no specific plans to announce. We are however, working up various scenarios should the opportunity present for a return with Rob Durand and Eddie Shiff working on the Senior League and Phill O’Brien leading a small group considering options for junior cricket with Paul Bate assessing the situation for Women’s and Girls Cricket.

We will do our best to keep you fully informed but should any club wish for any specific help or information please do not hesitate to get in touch with Chris Weston.

With huge thanks on behalf of the Liverpool Comp Cricket Community to all those working in the NHS, Social Care, Schools, Teachers at home, Supermarkets, Local Authorities, Delivery people, volunteers and many more who are working so hard to keep us all safe.

Keep Well and Stay Safe

John Williams on behalf of the Management Committee.
