DISCIPLINE REPORTS - AGREED ACTIONS

Several disciplinary reports have been received and dealt with by the respective clubs.

For a second month in succession the L&DCC has had to deal with several reported disciplinary offences as follows:

On 14th July in the match between Northern 3rd XI (SK) and Sefton Park 3 the Northern player Peter Nuttall was reported for continued umpire abuse and was banned for 2 weeks from the 10th August. This ban has been served. The delay arose because Northern CC failed to take immediate punitive action. A further two week ban was imposed suspended until the end of the 2019 season.

On 4th August in the 1st XI match between Newton le Willows and Liverpool the Liverpool captain Matthew Jackson was reported for dissent and was banned for 1 week from the 10th August. This ban has been served. In the same match the player Kunal Mohambray was given an ABB for inappropriate behaviour whilst fielding. Both players have been given a two week ban suspended until the end of the 2019 season.

On 4th August in the 1st XI match between Rainhill and Formby the Rainhill captain Ben Edmundson was reported for dissent and umpire abuse plus abuse of club furniture. He was banned for 3 weeks from the 10th August. This ban has been served. He has also been given a three week ban suspended until the end of the 2019 season.

On 18th August in the 1st XI match between Sefton Park and Liverpool the Sefton Park player Scott Aitchison was reported for threatening behaviour towards a player umpire. The player already had a two suspended ban from 2017 and was banned for 4 weeks from the 25th August. He has also been given a two week ban suspended until the end of the 2020 season. In the same match the Liverpool spectator and Chairman, Jeremy Clein, was reported for unacceptable behaviour when he interrupted the match by walking onto the field to confront the player Aitchison as he was shouting at the player umpire. He has been given a one week ban from cricket with a further one week suspended to the end of the 2019 season.

It would appear from the high number of offences reported this season so far, many by team captains, that captains and players are basically ignoring the disciplinary regulations. The Disciplinary Committee has been asked by the Management Committee to take stronger action and for the rest of this season the practice of suspending half and sometimes more of the ban will be discontinued and Clause 3.8.5 will be followed, that is up to half suspended will mean less than half and the top end of the tariff for the offence will be used more than has been the case in the past.
