NORTHERN and ORMSKIRK march on in Lancs KO whilst OLD XAVS and SUTTON 2nds line up Tittershill final.

All the news on a very busy Sunday.

There was a lot going on this Sunday on an afternoon when Northern and Ormskirk both progressed to the semi-finals of the Lancashire Knockout Cup. Ormskirk achieved it with some ease, dismissing Netherfield for 113 after setting a decent target of 219. The game at Moor Park was a much closer affair with Walsden compiling 193 for 7 and Northern getting home with three wickets and nine balls to spare.

Both sides are now at home in the semi-finals on 19 August, Northern hosting Clifton and Ormskirk entertaining Darwen. Both sides have also reached the last eight of the Royal London Club Championship with Northern travelling to Wolverhampton CC  and Ormskirk crossing the Pennines to Richmondshire CC on Sunday 5 August.

Meanwhile in the Comp, Sefton Park 2nd X1 lifted the 2nd X1 T20 Chrysalis Trophy (reported on the News page) in the finals day featuring Southport and Birkdale, Rainhill and Formby; whilst elsewhere in the Liverpool suburbs and just over the border in Wales the 2nd X1 Tittershill Cup semi-finals were being fought out. Old Xaverians progress to the final with a 43 run win over Highfield whilst Sutton 2nd X1 rewarded their following army of supporters with an eight wicket win at Northop Hall.

In the “get the game on” game sensibly replayed between Caldy and Old Xaverians (when everyone was evacuated from the site by Fire officials) Old Xaverians came out on top by 65 runs to really tighten things up at the top of Division two, where an exciting last couple of months seems likely. Wigan 2s beat Bootle in a game moved due to Wigan's early season pitch issues.

In Echo cup action, Bootle beat Wallasey and Neston beat New Brighton to reach the semi-finals.

In other Sunday 3rd X1 clashes there were wins for Leigh, Formby (4s) Orrell, Ainsdale, Alder and Rainhill with Sefton Park and Northern in a draw.

At 10am in the morning, Formby U11 triumphed over Ormskirk U11 in the Liverpool Comp and Southport Junior League cup final. (both teams pictured together)
