KEY POINTS FROM EOS MEETING

Date: 7th October 2015

New clubs; Fixture survey; Finance; and Umpires.

The End of Season Meeting held at Sefton Park on 6 October covered a lot of ground and the minutes are published in the documents section of this website under http://www.lpoolcomp.co.uk/uploaded_files/documents/EoS__SGM_2015_Minutes_.docx The following is a brief summary of the key points:

New Clubs

In accordance with the Feeder agreement with the Southport and District League the promotion of Southport Trinity to the Liverpool Competition and the move of Birkenhead St Mary’s to the Southport and District League was confirmed.  (This relates to both club’s 1st and 2nd X1’s. The 3rd X1’s will remain in their respectiveLeagues ) The admission of Prescot and Odyssey 3rd X1 and Irby 3rd X1 to the 3rd X1 Leagues was also confirmed.

Fixtures

The results of the Survey inviting all clubs to comment on the current method of arranging fixtures were presented and discussed. There had been a relatively low response (8 clubs) from which the Management Committee concluded that there was no real wish for change. The Chairman thanked the responders from which the majority view supported this position. The 2016 Fixtures will continue to take account of County Fixtures and, where possible, local factors important to clubs.

Finance

The Committee were pleased to confirm the continuation of Sponsorship from Med Imaging Ltd into a fourth year and thanked them for their continued support.

The Treasurer confirmed that the sum of £15,000 had recently been paid out to Clubs comprising each club’s divisional payment; prize money to 1st and 2nd place finishers and Cup winners and runners up and the share out of the Readers ball sponsorship monies. This was tempered with the news that fines in 2015 had reached a record level of just over £7000.

Lack of Umpires

Ray Rigby, for the MCUA, made another plea to clubs to try to identify individuals to take up umpiring. The past season had seen a record number of games with only one official and given the profile of the MCUA membership the situation was only going to get worse. (Full details of all available courses in Lancashire from now through to March will be published on this website shortly).

Other points

·         Overall Ground Marks had improved in all three divisions

·         The 2016 Player Development Programme will run again from January to March at St Margaret’s (Subsidised by £4000 from the 2015 fines). Details coming out shortly.

·         Clubs were asked to confirm their numbers for the Annual Dinner to John Rotheram as soon as possible
